Shop Pay Account Portal

Shop Pay is a digital wallet that enables single-click checkout by autofilling your payment details

Problem

Shop Pay users need an accessible way to manage and update their account details.

What exists so far:

• Shop Pay users can only manage their account details on the checkout page.
• A user can visit a Shopify store, go to the checkout page, and encounter Shop Pay.
• Here, they can add, edit and delete their payment information (addresses, credit cards)

Why this is not ideal:

• It is not an intuitive nor easily discoverable solution. Going to a checkout page to manage your account is not intuitive. Furthermore, many users don’t understand that Shop Pay works for all Shop Pay activated Shopify stores.
• The checkout process is the most sensitive and important period for a store owner, so providing a way for users to update their payment information outside of the checkout will be valuable.

Solution

Provide users a dedicated place within Shop Pay’s home page to manage their account.

An account portal (home for account management) is a popular pattern that users are familiar with. As well, this gives room for Shop Pay as a product to grow. This account portal served as a foundation for Shop Pay to partner with Affirm, enabling users to pay in installments and manage the payments in this portal.
